Toothless Wonder

Toothless is right........Harper has been "teething" since December. It is now February and still no teeth! His gums are swollen, but there is nothing white to be seen. I'm starting to wonder how much longer this is going to go on. By no means do I want him to grow up faster than he already is, but he has all the signs of teething......drooling, bumps on chin, loose stools, and gnaws on EVERYTHING! He's finished a whole tube of oral gel and a bottle of teething tablets! He even woke up on Wednesday night screaming and would not calm down. I can only assume that he is "teething!" So who knows when the chompers will come, but in the mean time he'll chew away on the biter biscuits!

Aidan and Harper-Best Buds

Adorable Aidan

Best Buds

Saturday night we drove over to Katy to visit Bradi, Lance, and Aidan!! We finally were able to meet him. Aidan is already 5 weeks old! We were susposed to meet him in December when he was born, but Harper got a cold, then Christmas and New Years happened, along with a trip to Colorado and Oklahoma! We were so glad to finally get to see him. He is just as precious as all of his pictures, but I loved holding the real thing!

One Proud Mama

Okay, I apologize in advance because I have to totally BRAG about my child! This week he has managed to .........

fly on an airplane and not so much as make a peep

go to the Baylor vs. A&M basketball game and make it through 5 overtimes

Sit quietly through his first movie at The Grand

AND

Change his schedule so that he eats every 4 hours 4 times a day

Wow! Am I blessed or what? Thank goodness he is so easy! I love being Harper's mommy! I was so worried about the plane ride, basketball game, and movie......turns out I shouldn't have been so nervous!

Care at all for some carrots?

Harper started solid foods this week. First on the list were carrots. He has been eating them for 3 days now and still doesn't love them. At first he spit them out, so I would alternate carrots with bites of oatmeal. He tolerates them, but has not acquired a taste for vegetables yet. I think he might have his daddy's picky palate!
The suggested diet for a five month old is 26-30 ounces of milk, cereal twice a day, vegetables twice a day, and 4-6 ounces of apple juice. We're skipping out on the apple juice, I personally don't think it is needed yet. Harper will eat carrots for 4 days in a row and then try squash, beets, green beans, peas, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, spinach, and broccoli. I think we're going to skip out on the beets, I couldn't find them at the grocery store and I don't eat beets, so I don't think Harper will be missing out!

5 Months Old

Sweet Harper-5 months

Is Harper really 5 months old?? Oh my! My sweet little baby is growing up so fast! We did not go to the doctor this month, so I don't have his stats. I think he's a little over 14 pounds. He's been in the tenth percentile for weight every visit so I'm guessing that hasn't changed. This month he will start vegetables. I haven't started them yet because we are going to Oklahoma for a couple of days and I think it would be a lot of work to start something new while out of town. He eats rice cereal twice a day and nurses five times a day. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to start weaning him this month because we're leaving him when we go to New Zealand in February :( I would totally do it for a year if I could.

This past month has been the most fun.....so far! Harper is starting to get such a personality. He smiles from across the room and watches everything I do. He talks and screeches at everything. Hiss favorite sound to make is gooo! He especially loves to make that sound at his daddy and Baxter....He loves Baxter! In the past, he hasn't noticed him, but now he loves to grab his hair and just stare at him.

This month he is also much more interested in his toys. I no longer have to "play" with the toys, he has learned to manipulate them. He hits the buttons on the exersaucer and spins the wheels. Harper can also kind of sit up on his own too! Sometimes he gets a little distracted and does a nose dive into the floor! He use to love his bouncy seat, swing, and play mat, but now he'd rather lay/sit on the floor and play. Sometimes he just wants to explore my face and grab my hair. He still fits in his carseat, but is much less fond of it after our roadtrip to Colorado! I love to sit him in the stroller without the carseat and watch him smile at everyone we see!

This month Harper started teething. I don't actually see anything white, but his gums are swollen in 2 places. He loves to chew on his paci and hands.....actually anything that fits in his mouth! I'm not ready for him to get teeth! He's going to be asking for Mc Donalds before too long! This was also the month that he got his first cold :( I thought since I was nursing that it wouldn't happen until much later, but I was wrong. It lasted for about 10 days and it was so sad to see him not feeling well.

Snow much fun!

We're having SNOW much fun in Colorado!

Harper loves the snow! It has been snowing all day here. It's absolutely beautiful, I feel like I live in a snow globe! We took the boys out for a few cute pics in the white stuff. We found baby sleds so we strapped them in and went for a ride! So cute!!

Roadtrip

The Girls, in our crazy roadtrip shirts!

We made it safely to Colorado. The boys did soo good! They slept peacefully in their carseats all night. We stopped several times throughout the night to change out drivers, stretch, and get coffee. I haven't stayed up past 10 in months! I drove until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore, 10-2:30.

We had a little bit of trouble once we got into Pagosa Springs because of the major snow storm that arrived today. Perfect Timing! We were about 3 houses away when the Sequoia got stuck. Our neighbors were super nice to try to help us, but unfortunately we got their jeep stuck! Oops! Luckily Ricky found a rope and was able to pull us out. Thank goodness for 4 wheel drive.

So we are here and ready to relax! Here are some pictures of our journey thus far!

We need 4-wheel drive

Thanks to the locals!

We made it

P.S. The house is so beautiful and cozy......Beautiful view of the national forest. So the girls are relaxing while the boys are at the grocery store!!

We are heading to Pagosa Springs, Colorado to go skiing for the week! We are so excited out our roadtrip. We are taking Harper, Gentry, and Cooper. Are we crazy.....yes! I think the answer is yes. Did I mention we are driving?? I think we're bringing babies r us with us to CO. It will be totally worth it once we get there! We're leaving at the kids bedtime so hopefully we'll drive safely through the night while they sleep. Here is where we are staying http://www.pagosavacationrentals.com/martinez269.asp
