Bye, Bye, Baby

As I write this post I'm a little sad, I have just finished packing for our trip to New Zealand. I am taking everything, except my sweet baby:( I have left Harper one night out of the last 190 days and now I'm leaving him for 10 day's! What was I thinking? I went to Sams tonight to develop some pictures so I could have Harper with me while we're half way across the world, but my memory card said it was empty! So I'm going to post some of my favorite pics, I hope the internet works at our hotel!

Pals

Yesterday my mom, Harper, and I had lunch with some sweet friends from our days in Houston. We met Glenna, Summer, and Blake at Lupe Tortillas in The Woodlands for some yummy fajitas! Summer and Blake were in town for a quick visit with DanPa and Gigi, so they squeezed us into their busy schedule! Summer's parents recently moved to The Woodlands and we've been trying to plan a time for us to have a mother daughter lunch with our boys! I'm so glad it worked out.

A little history about the Spains and the Woodwards.....our parents met at Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston while in the same sunday school class and our dads played basketball together for a church league......So Summer and I were friends, or so I was told and saw in pictures!! I don't think we've seen each other in 25 years, but after reading each others blogs about our life with little boys, I feel like we're close friends!

Here are some pictures of Harper and Blake from our lunch date.....Isn't Blake darling?!

February 14th

I always say that the holidays don't really seem like "holidays" anymore since I am not teaching. There is just something that makes holidays seem "real" when you are around children. Today is Valentine's Day and I am a little sad that I'm missing the Valentine's Party with a class full of kiddos. I always loved the last day of January because I took the children's picture and put them on my door saying Mrs. Heathcott's Heart Throbs. I loved making Valentine's as a class, doing a making words activity out of the word Valentine, reading Junie B. Jones & I love you Mr. Hatch (and crying), graphing and learning about quotation marks with conversation hearts. I love all the seasonal activities! But today seems a little more "real" because not only is it Valentine's Day it is Harper's half birthday.......6 months old already.....how can that be? So as I miss out on the fun at school, I'm celebrating at home with my precious and healthy 6 month old!
I'm going to try to be brief but there is just so much I want to say about this milestone. Six months just seems to be so important, it's the magic number, like turning 18 or 21! I'm going to attempt to recap this past month.......

I always say that I see a huge change month to month........but this month takes the cake. Harper can now officially sit up! No more face planting into a pile of toys. He can sit up on his own...Which works out really nicely for pictures! He can also sit up in the bath tub and play with his toys. It is so fun to watch him splash and chew on rubber ducky. He is in LOVE with Baxter, all I have to say is bbbaaaxxxttterrr and Harper grins ear to hear. He enjoys watching Bax whenever he's on his tummy, but as soon has Harper is out of sight, he's on his back. (Harper hates to be on his tummy......that's my fault, I used the bouncey chair too much!)
This week Harper put his hands straight up in the air to be picked up. Wow! Talk about the warm and fuzzies. Cam was conveniently out of town so he missed this 'first.' :( I was one proud mama! This week we also gave him a sippy cup of water. We are practicing using a cup, he doesn't quite have the hang of it. He has to suck and he would rather chew on the spout. Speaking of chewing, no teeth yet! We are anxiously waiting, I don't know how much longer he will "teeth" with no teeth!
Harper has been eating vegetables all month, he loves everything orange.....sweet potatos, carrots, and squash are his favs...... green beans and peas are not so delish! We go back to the doctor next week and will hopefully get the okay to start fruits. I already have a pantry full of bananas, applesauce, and prunes (yuck)!
Harper has definitely grown! I can't wait to see if he is still in the tenth percentile. I'm thinking he's moved up to the 30th. He has filled out all over and now has some serious thunder thighs..thanks to the cereal, formula, and vegetables. He still wears a size 1-2 diaper, but any day he could move up to a 2. He is in between sizes in clothes, he mostly wears 3 months......that's why I think he's not in the 50th percentile yet. He's just got some short little legs :) His hair is growing, but don't worry he still has a baby mullet! As Aunt Rachel says he has "duck fuzz hair!"
------------So Happy Half Birthday baby Harper!!

I love my baby daddy....

ha ha...we all have a little ghetto in us. This is just a little note in appreciation of my wonderful husband. Each day he makes my dreams come true by letting me stay home with little H. I am so blessed to be married to someone who knows the importance of family. I love you Cam, Happy Valentine's Day!

We're Moving!

It's official we're moving to Montgomery........the birthplace of the Texas flag! (Has anyone ever noticed that Texas is notorious for calling things "the birthplace of......") We put a contract on a house in the middle of January and will be closing next week! I am so excited about our new neighborhood! We will be living right by Harper's best buddies; Gentry and Cooper. The neighborhood is filled with parks, swimming pools, a golf course, and tennis courts. What more could a kiddo ask for! The house we are purchasing is so cute! I love it, I think Harper will enjoy growing up there. It has a huge backyard, with a nice deck, a really big drive way, cozy front porch, and adorable red front door. I would post of picture, but they took the pictures off the internet since it is off the market.

Now we need to sell our house. So if you know anyone looking for a home in the Conroe area please send them our way! I'm nervous since this is not the best time to be selling a house, but I know that God is in control and will send the perfect buyers our way. I just hope they enjoy this house as much as we have the past 3 years. So any prayers would be greatly appreciated!

Going to the Big D

This weekend we went to visit our friends Courtney and Bailey in Dallas. It was a spur of the moment trip and we are so glad we went! We left Friday afternoon and arrived in Richardson right after rush hour. When we got to the Beal's house they were extra interested in Harper, nothing too unusual because they are so good with babies, but they were practicing because.......... they are expecting a baby in September!!! I am soooo HAPPY for them! They are just one of those couples who will be amazing parents, that little jellybean is one lucky baby!! So we spent the rest of the weekend eating and shopping! What moms and soon to be moms do best! It's a good thing I don't live in Dallas because I would try to keep up with the pregnant gals! (our friends John and Jenn are expecting too!)

Daddy, Bailey, and Harpers
On Friday we went to eat at Luna de Noche. It was yummy mexican food! I love Tex-Mex! They seriously need to open a restaurant in Conroe or Montgomery (where we are moving!!...more on that soon)! Then after dinner we went back to the Beal's and hung out. Casey, Cam's brother, came and hung out too, he needed a Harper fix! Then on Saturday they guys played golf and watched the Baylor basketball game while the girls shopped. We went to Pickles and Ice Cream to get Jenn and Courtney some maternity clothes. For one tiny, millisecond I wanted to be pregnant again, and then I came back to earth! It was just so fun to see them try on the strap on belly! I really enjoyed being pregnant, but I don't think I'm ready for baby number 2 yet!!
Laughing at Court
After a fun day of shopping, (seriously, some great shopping in Dallas.....or plano, richardson, addison, garland........where ever we were!!) we went out for pizza at Campezzis. They have the best thin crust pizza. Then we went out for ice cream, once again......it's a good thing I don't live in Dallas!!

It is always so fun to get together with Courtney and Bailey & John and Jenn. They were our friends in Waco and we always have the best time! There is never a dull moment with the boys! Thanks for being excellent hosts once again! Love you guys!!
