Touch a Truck

We went to a touch - a - truck event in The Woodlands. Harper enjoyed looking at all the vehicles. He took a tour of an ambulance, school bus, police car, tractor, and ranger. He loved the school bus and talks about the "yellow bus" a lot! It was a super hot Saturday morning so we didn't stay too long. Here are a few pictures of the little guy from the morning.

TriGirl

Tri Girls- Paige, Allyson, Angela, and Cindy

I completed my 2nd triathlon last weekend. I had not trained nearly as hard for this one but still managed to reach my time goal. I think I am finished with triathlons for a little bit. It is too hot to race and train! I would love to do one this fall, but then the water temperature would be way to cold for my liking.
This was such a fun morning with great friends. Thanks to all the husbands and moms who came to watch and take pictures.

Golf Par-Tee Details

Harper's 2nd Birthday was so much fun! Thanks to everyone who came over and went "golfing" with the birthday boy.

We had to have a golf party for Harper's 2nd Birthday. He is in love with the game of golf. This is a great thing, unless you try to have a golf party for a little boy. This is an open market for anyone creative/crafty! It is next to impossible to find anything golf themed. I had to get a little creative for this "golf" Par-tee.

My friend Mindy made the invitations for the birthday party. She did such a great job and she actually had golf graphics! Hooray! I set up a 4 hole golf course in the back yard. Each child got a golf club, scorecard, and page of stickers when they arrived at the party. There were instructions at each hole explaining how to play.

The yellow hole was a driving range for the kids to practice their swing by hitting into the practice net.
The Red hole was a putting green. The kids used an astroturf putting green to hit 2 balls into the hole.
Next was the water hole, using a net the kids retrieved 2 golf balls from a pool. The Orange Hole, Using a shovel the kids dug for 2 golf balls in the sand trap.
After each the completion of each hole the kids put a sticker on their scorecard.

I also set up a table for golf ball art. I put green paint, card stock, and golf balls in a rotisserie pan with a lid. The kids shook up the pan and let the golf ball roll around. Then Voila, golf ball impression art.

Cam polished up his golf cart and we offered golf cart rides. The kids were obsessed with the “golf cart.” Here is a picture of some of his friends taking turns “driving!”
For dinner we served, hot dogs, chips, and fruit. Exactly what daddy eats at the golf course, well minus the fruit!

24 Months

or 2 years old! Wow! I guess it is time to stop counting in months. Before I had children I never understood why people used months to tell you how old their kids were.....now I totally get it.
I think this month has been the month of change. Harper has turned into a big boy over night. He is so lively and has an opinion about everything. You can actually have a conversation with him, one where he doesn't just repeat everything you say! On the average, Harper puts 3-4, sometimes, 5 words together. He will repeat what you say, so be forewarned! He mimics us when we say, "Hey Babe" or "Oh my!" At least that is all he likes to repeat!!
Harper loves to be "ooout-siiide." He really drags out the word and says it in a whiney tone of voice. He really enjoys playing golf in our backyard, riding his car, and helping mommy pick weeds. He finds all the weeds and then tells me where to pick. The other day we found an earth worm. He loved watching it squirm on the sidewalk. When it found some dirt to bury itself he, he shouted, "More worms!" Such a BOY!
We spend a lot of time inside too, because it is just to hot to be outside all day. So when we are inside we play golf! Are you surprised? He has figured out how to put a tee in the rug and hit a golf ball! I am considering openning up the french doors in the back of the house and letting him have his own driving range. This month, he got his first blisters on his hands from gripping the club to hard! When he is not golfing he is wanting to watch Elmo and Abby. He doesn't understand that Sesame Street has other characters. He can get rather testy when it's not Elmo's world or something with Abby.
He is still just a sweet little boy. He loves to "hold you." My back is starting to hurt just writing those 2 words. He weighs 29 pounds and it's getting hard for me to carry him! My recent favorite moment with Harper was when he crawled up into my bed and took a 2 hour nap in my arms. That was a first in 2 years! So sweet.
Here is a general list of things that Harper is doing at TWO...
-Recognizes/Knows ABC's
-counts to 10
-knows shapes
-favorite color-orange
-uses 3-5 words at a time
-proficient with spoon and fork
-dresses himself
-signs Jesus Loves Me

Summertime

Sliding into the deep end!
Aunt Julie, Harper and I made a quick trip over to Kingwood to see the Childer's family! We were planning on just having lunch and running some errands, but it was sooo HOT! We made a stop at my parent's pool to cool off! Saige and Harper had so much fun swimming and sharing toys! Harper wanted to do everything Saige did. She can swim underwater and he wanted to try! He'll be needing a little more practice. Harper found my racing goggles in the pool bag and decided he needed to model them!
Harper was in rare form because he shared his golf balls with Saige! Must be love!! He loves to hoard golf balls and rarely shares!! Saige is quite the little golfer herself....golf dates in the future??

Thanks for all the pics Jules!!

Happy 4th of July

Mama's and Babies
We had a wonderful 4th of July. Our morning started out really early as we headed to Market Street for the parade. We thought we arrived early enough to find a shady spot, but everyone else had the same idea. We were under a tree, but still no shade! It was very HOT, check out our sweaty pics! Harper had a fun time with his buddies Gavin and Parker. He really liked all the candy that was thrown! He was mesmerized by all the trucks and cars that went by.
After almost having a heat stroke at the parade, we decided it was time to head to the Halberdiers for some much needed pool time and naps. They were so nice to have us over and let us all invade their house! It was such a fun afternoon with the fam! The boys decided to play a few holes of golf while the girls got ready for fireworks at The Waterway. We had the perfect spot to watch fireworks. We were far enough way that the booms weren't too loud, but close enough to enjoy the show. We arrived early to get great seats, but a little too much "run around" time for the kids. Once again we were hot and sweaty keeping our kids away from the water!! I hope to make the parade and firework show a tradition! Harper and Daddy

Enjoying the show

Cooking

I needed to make a dessert for a lunch that Cam was hosting. I decided to have Harper help me. I thought brownies would be simple and a good start for Harper. I'm not really sure if boys should wear aprons, but oh well he wore one anyway! He was so excited to stand on the stool and watch me crack the eggs, pour the oil, and add water. I showed him how to stir and the rest is history. He stirred the brownies for 10 minutes!! I would try to take the bowl away to pour it into the pan, but he would firmly say, "NO!" I finally got the bowl away when I showed him how to lick the spatula! So now he says cooking every time we come into the kitchen! The final product!
