15 months

Harper had his 15 month check up this week. He got a great report from the doctor and here are his stats...

Weight 24 pounds 20%

Height 30 inches 25-50%

Harper is still such a sweet natured boy...toddler! He is now walking, talking, running, climbing, exploring, laughing, and pointing. We are loving this stage at the Heathcott house. He is such a JOY to be around, we can communicate with his baby babble and that makes it so much fun. Harper is right on track with 14 teeth including 4 molars. This makes it very easy to chew. He eats mostly finger foods....His favorites include: oatmeal, eggs, grapes, strawberries, cheerios, crackers, cheese, peas, fruit snacks, and whatever mama is eating! He does the "more" sign for more food and it's so cute! You can't tell him no when he asks so sweetly. That is why he has filled out!!

I feel like I play 20 questions with him all day. Where is your head, where is your belly button?? and so on! He will point to his head, belly button (and find yours too!), and eyes. Harper had to know 3 body parts at his 15 month check up, so he learned just enough to get by!

He has quite a vocabulary- hi, hey, mama, dada, Addy (my mom), dog (doh), off, light (ight), ball, book, cracker (crak-er), Baxter (ax-ter), uh- oh, thank you, ga-ga (milk), movie (moo-ie), ah ah ah (monkey sound), raaa (roars like a lion), moo (cow), no (na, na and shakes his head)

That is all I can think of right now.

He loves to wave bye bye and will do it on command. As soon as you put him in his push car, he starts waving, the neighbors especially love it. My favorite thing that he does is dance! This boy can boogie. He shakes his head up and down and bounces. It's so cute! All you have to do is turn on music or sing. The other day a random commercial came on and we got a show! It is soooo funny. My parents said he got this from me. Apparently I was quite the dancer when I was little. His latest trick is to get the remote, sit in his chair, and point to the tv and say "moo-ie." It's really cute, but he does this ALL the time! I try to not let him watch too much television, but he loves it! He really likes The Wiggles, this could be where he is getting all his moves!

Another one of the things he loves to do is throw away his diapers. After I change him, he takes the diaper and throws it way in the Diaper Genie. It was really cute when he was crawling, but now that he is walking it's not such a challenge. His favorite thing to do.......drum roll...... is turn the lights on and off!! We do this all day long! Not kidding! He says (light, light, light, off, off) until you pick him up and let him turn the light on or off. Then he gets really excited and claps and giggles. It is super cute, but after the 100th time you start to wonder how cute it really is. It's kind of embarassing too because if he spots a light switch in public he does the same thing, and it never fails the sweet person will say it's okay he can turn off the lights. So he does this everywhere, doctors office, hair salon, church, Michaels, Gold's Gym, car dealership, everywhere!!

So that pretty much sums up happy Harper at 15 months old. He's just the sweetest kiddo parents could ask for. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be able to stay home each day with him. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to be his mama, I am so blessed.

Christmas Traditions

Help! I am wanting to start some Christmas traditions this year. Harper is only one, but I really want to try some things this Christmas to start a few meaningful traditions that can give him warm Christmas memories. I feel like the true meaning of Christmas has been lost in today's world. It makes me so sad, and when I look at our house (yes I am almost finished decorating...he he) I think I've fallen into the same trap. I want Christmas at the Heathcott house to be about Christ's birth! So I'm wanting you to share some Christmas traditions that you do at your house. Please post, even if I don't know you, I'd love to hear about holidays at your house:)

Here are a few I am considering.....
Wise Men Travel- Display a Nativity in a special place in your home. Let each child choose a Wise man to "travel" throughout your home arriving at the stable on Christmas Eve.

Manger- Display a Nativity with no straw, tell your children their job is to make a nice bed for baby Jesus so every time they do something nice or kind without anyone looking then they add straw to the manger.

Happy Birthday Jesus Party- (we did this last year with our play group) Every year have a Birthday Party for Jesus, read the Christmas story, sing Happy Birthday, eat cake, and donate baby food to your local food pantry.

The Mudpie Company

We headed over to Kingwood last week to attend story time at The Mudpie Company. The last time we did this the boys were crawling and it was like bringing a bull into a china shop. They were into everything! We just needed their footprint and didn't think past that.....Well this time we were prepared with snacks, movies, and grandma! A huge thanks to my mom who came and corral ed the kiddos while we painted a "Give Thanks" plate with the kids hand print (turned into a turkey...so cute!). I think the plates are going to be darling, but you can never tell until they are fired. Thanks girls for a fun day!

Baylor Homecoming

After our fun-filled Halloween, we were out the door at 6:30 Saturday morning, headed to Waco for Baylor's homecoming. It was so hard to get up, but I knew I'd get an extra hour of sleep tonight so it made it a little easier to get up! And we made a stop at Starbucks for my favorite, pumpkin spice soy latte! Yum!

We arrived in Waco just in time for the parade. We stood in front of the business school and met up with Cam's family. Cam saw lots of old college friends and some of his professors. He was a teachers pet in college, he knows all of his college professors, and they LOVE him! I was never like that, hopefully Harper will take after his daddy academically! Harper was really into the parade, he especially enjoyed the Baylor Bear balloon and the swing dancers!(He loves music) He sat on Cam's shoulders so he could see over everyone. The parade was really long so he ran around for a lot of the time and let Cha Cha chase him around. I think we might try to be in the parade next year, because seriously ANYONE can be in the parade!

After the parade we had lunch at McAllisters with John, Jenn, and Brynn........and then off to the football game. The bears tried really hard to pull off a win against Missouri, but unfortunately it didn't happen. It was the best game I'd seen Baylor play in 5 years, so I wasn't disappointed. Harper sat on Cha Cha and BearPa's lap for most of the game, he was in the best mood all day. He didn't nap all day and was so happy! I'm thinking he's ready to drop his morning nap, but I'm not sure I'm ready for just one nap a day! We were going to head to the ranch after the game and Harper was fast asleep as soon as his head hit the carseat......but gas prices were too cheap to pass up. So we stopped and filled up our car for $45!! Wow! That is the cheapest we've filled up yet! I love Waco!

I had to take a picture for proof!!!

On our way out of town we drove by Cam's old house on Bagby. It has gotten quite a face lift, I promise it never looked this good when he lived there :)

Lion to Sea Lion!

Halloween was a little wild at the Heathcott household this year......Fall Festival, neighborhood party, Baylor Homecoming, and opening deer season. We had too much going on that we almost didn't celebrate Halloween, which is pretty much cruel when you have a kiddo. I kind of figured that he would never know, except if he looked at his baby book, but guys don't pay attention to details anyway. Well after much persuasion from friends and family I purchased a costume, it was actually the only costume in his size. It was very a very popular idea among bloggers, I think I've counted 5 lions this year!!

Well to start off our eventful weekend we went to our 2nd Annual fall festival at First Baptist Conroe. I was working the photo booth for a 30 minute shift when we arrived so Cam took Harper around to play games. The first game he played involved a baby pool....you take a ring and try to toss it around a rubber ducky.....Well no lie, the first five minutes we are at the fall festival he goes face first into the baby pool!! I wasn't there to witness it, Cam was on daddy duty. I had a million people running up to me saying, "Have you seen your son??" He was soaking wet! So much for our little lion, more like a sea lion!
The infamous game!

Fall Fun!

Yes, we did celebrate Halloween this year. I'm sure you were starting to wonder because of my lack of posts lately. I have actually had lots to blog about, but I personally don't think blogging is fun without pictures....I guess that is why I prefer to read magazines rather than books. I like pictures!
I do not know how to upload our pictures to the computer, I know I need to learn. I have asked Cam several times to show me how, but it is seriously complicated! He uploads them, attempts to edit them or do something because they are saved RAW, (which does not allow me to view them) saves, and then puts them into different folders. It is a time consuming process. Any ideas on how to simplify?? I feel bad asking him to do this, but I nag all the time......I take too many pictures. So finally here are some of our fall pics!

These pictures were taken at the Pumpkin Patch in Spring. We went with our friends Travis, Ashley, Cooper, Alli, and Cannon. It was really fun thing to do as a family. We played in the pumpkins, stared at the goats, road the train, and ran around the entire place. So fun!
